Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is the most abundant antibody isotype in human serum, accounting for approximately 75% of total serum immunoglobulins. IgG plays a central role in the secondary immune response and is the primary antibody involved in long-term immunity. It exists as four subclasses (IgG1–4), each with distinct functional properties and effector mechanisms. Detection and quantification of IgG is clinically relevant across a wide range of conditions including autoimmune diseases, immunodeficiency disorders, and infectious disease serology. Anti-human IgG antibodies are widely used as secondary detection reagents in immunoassay development.
