Product Information
Polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM) are idiopathic inflammatory myopathies characterised by the presence of autoantibodies targeting nuclear and cytoplasmic antigens. Among these, autoantibodies directed against the aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase group of enzymes are detected in the sera of up to 89% of patients, strongly supporting an autoimmune origin for these diseases.
PL-7 autoantibodies target threonyl-tRNA synthetase and represent one of the less common antisynthetase antibodies associated with PM and DM. Like other antisynthetase antibodies, anti-PL-7 is associated with antisynthetase syndrome, which may present with myositis, interstitial lung disease, mechanic's hands, and arthritis.
This native PL-7 myositis antigen is purified from bovine thymus, providing a naturally derived source of threonyl-tRNA synthetase for use in immunoassay applications. The antigen will be evaluated for use in ELISA and Western blot applications.
